This calculator is designed to show you how better approaches lead to better outcomes.

The COVID-19 Testing Impact Calculator does not ensure that COVID-19 infections will not enter your organization. The calculator helps determine the testing frequency needed to identify and isolate potentially contagious people.  The rate at which potentially infected people may enter your organization is determined by the prevalence in the broader community.

The COVID-19 Testing Impact Calculator assumes that the prevalence of COVID-19 within your organization is no greater than in the broader community at the time you initiate a Screening Protocol.  One way to do this is to complete 100% testing of all individuals prior to implementing a Screening Protocol.  This will confirm that you do not have an outbreak currently within your organization.

The COVID-19 Testing Impact Calculator assumes tests are used ‘off-label’ for use under practitioner guidance when used to test asymptomatic people.  A screening protocol does not replace the need for other mitigation efforts such as daily cleaning, handwashing, or social distancing. A screening protocol may be implemented as an additional mitigation effort.
